Adoptable Nova

Adoption Pending..

Nova is an adoptable, 6 year old, female, 53lb, short and stocky, merle coated, Bulldog. She is the sweetest little muffin that is so affectionate and cuddly. She just wants to be with you at all times hanging out and getting cuddles. Nova is a very special girl that does have Megaesophagus. This just means she needs to eat a certain way each day to help her food reach her stomach. We have now mastered this technique and feeding plan for her needs. It does not take much extra effort to do this, besides a little meal prep and attention.

Nova has been consistently gaining weight and is almost at her ideal 25kg. Despite being diagnosed with megaesophagus, she has been eating well with the new food consistency and does not need to be held upright after meals. Her regurgitation issues have drastically decreased and happen mainly after drinking water. She has been successfully adjusted to three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) from four meals and the goal is to get her to two meals a day (breakfast and dinner) With her improved health she has started to show her energetic side. She is very playful and incredibly ball driven. She will need safe introduction/socialization to dogs and young children.

Nova walks great on leash. She is stubborn and will walk 10 paces behind if she doesn’t want to go, but picks up speed when we are walking toward home. She gets excited by loud noises, runners and small children playing/jumping/yelling. She will stand next to me while dogs pass us without issue but if the other dog is reactive, she will get excited by them and match energy.

Nova sleeps through the night in her crate now in the living room. She does whimper, whine and yip when left alone. She is a huge snuggle bug! She wants to be next to you and touching you at all times. We usually have a weekend cuddle in bed while she sleeps and I watch a movie. She is happiest with her person nearby. She is great with my teenage son and his friends as well.

Nova is very food driven and is placed in her crate during our meal prep and while we eat to ensure she does not get any additional accidentally dropped food that could trigger her regurgitation.
