Meet Adoptable Rye!
This sweet Momma is a 2-3 years old, 55-60lb, female, mixed breed. Rye comes to us from a remote northern BC community about 8 hours north of Prince George. She arrived with one of her puppies over a month ago, which was adopted out, and now it’s Rye’s turn to find her loving forever home.
Rye is a very sweet and affectionate dog that does well with all nice people, and just wants you to give her all the love, attention, cuddles, and pets. Rye also does well with dog respectful children of all ages, and currently is in a foster home with two parents and three kids, with ages ranging from 7-14 years of age. She is fairly well house, potty, and kennel trained, and has not been destructive at all. Rye just finished healing from her spay a couple weeks ago, and has met a few dogs since, and done well. She does have some leash reactivity when she sees other dogs on walks, as she just doesn’t like being restricted by the leash if she wants to go over to say, hello. Once she gets to say hello, she is just fine. That being said, we still need to take it very slow with her meeting new dogs, especially if the energy is already high. We are working on teaching Rye how to not pull on leash, and how to calm down to appropriately meet other dogs, and we know she will get there. She was a chained up / roaming dog for most of her life, so this leash and collar / harness thing is still a little new to her. We have not had her around cats, so we are unsure how she would be with cats or other small animals in the home.
Rye has the sweetest heart and soul and will make a great dog for anyone that loves affectionate dogs, that want to be with you all the time. She is currently being fostered is Langford, BC.
