Meet Adoptable Bodhi!
Bodhi is a 5 month old, male, 35-40lb, Belgian Malinois X. Bodhi is a fun loving, sweet, adventurous, loving, friendly, energetic, super smart and loyal, good boy.
He is currently being fostered in Sidney, BC with one of our members families that trains horses, has two other smaller dogs and a young human teenager, and he does great with them all. He’s quite respectful with boundaries. When it comes to dogs like Belgian Malinois, being a mixed breed or not, we are definitely looking for more specific type of adopter. Preferably someone that is really active outdoors and has lots of time and dedication to place into training, training, training. These super athletic dogs love to do things like nose work / scent detection, agility, man tracking, search and rescue, dock diving, bite work, and an overall a job to do. They are working dogs plain and simple. Without a job to do or something to keep them exercised, enriched, and stimulated, they can become very difficult to handle. They are not for the weak hearted. That does not mean they cannot be excellent family dogs and really well behaved with other dogs and animals, because they sure can. Their exceptional dogs that generally need to be led by exceptional people when it comes to their needs, and can financially be a bit more money when it comes to the training. Bodhi originally came from far up north Vancouver Island, where he was very lucky to get out of there before it was too late.
If he is adopted on south Vancouver Island, we already have a great trainer that has an amazing and very highly trained, Belgian Malinois themselves, and we will be covering the first few in person sessions of training for the adopter, and then they can stay continued with this trainer as well. They can even do virtual training for people that might live and more distant locations. Either way we want to help set you up for great success for yourself and Bodhi.
