Meet Adoptable Lykos!
Lykos is a 2-3 year old, male, 50lbs, Husky, mixed breed. Lykos is ready to be your little buddy —whether that’s joining you on hiking adventures, running, or simply chilling on the couch for some snuggles and kisses. He’ll follow you around like your personal shadow, just to make sure you’re never alone. Lykos is one of the sweetest and most loving dogs with a funny personality, and he has come so far in just the two months since being rescued from his old life of severe neglect, while living on a chain without proper shelter.
If you’re in the kitchen or bathroom or literally anywhere, expect an audience.
When it comes to making new friends, Lykos is all in! He loves meeting people, though he might need a little time to warm up to men. Some men he can be weary and unsure of, but he’s getting more confident each day with the ones that go slow. This most likely stems from his unfortunate past with men. He loves Jesse who rescued him, and he loves another man that’s helped care for him, Eddy. He’s much more confident with women at the moment. He still perfecting his social skills with other dogs and doesn’t love when a leash holds him back. He will get a bit overstimulated, and make his frustration known with some very clear and loud communication! He has done really well with some dogs, as he has a few friends so far, but will react to others that are loud or threatening to him. He just needs more time for proper socialization and desensitization, as he has only been out in the big world for two months now, since being rescued from his life on a chain.
Now, if there’s one thing Lykos is passionate about (besides you, of course), it’s food. Training is a breeze because Lykos will do anything for a treat. His enthusiasm for food is so high it can even overwhelm him sometimes. This love of food does spill over into the kitchen, where he will help himself to whatever he can find! Whether it is in your garbage, on the counter, on the stovetop still cooking, or even in your hand, he will try and snag a bite. Lykos is a good boy when left alone for a few hours, though he’d much rather be out with you.
Whether you’re living in a house, apartment, or somewhere in between, Lykos is adaptable and will likely fit right in. Just be sure to give him plenty of exercise, mental and physical, to burn off some of that boundless energy! Otherwise, he will get sassy and a little crazy! He is a dream to run with, he runs beautifully loose leashed and rarely stops after he’s got a few bathroom breaks done in the first few minutes.
This boy is getting a more healthy coat by the day, so he does shed pretty good right now. He does tolerate being brushed and surprisingly will happily sit still for ear drops (seriously, have never met a dog this chill about sticking things in his ears before, we think he actually likes it). As for his toys, Lykos is all about the soft ones he can tear apart or treat puzzles that involve peanut butter (his one true love, after his human of course).
Lykos has a heart as big as his personality, so be prepared for all the hugs and kisses you can handle. He’s still working on his manners, though, so sometimes he can get pretty jumpy and mouthy when he’s playing. He loves to play, and he’ll often grab your arm, ankle, or anything in reach with his mouth, trying to get you to pick up the pace. But don’t worry, he’s learning the ropes, and he’s getting better every day—plus, his attempts of self-control are absolutely adorable! He’ll open his mouth to mouth something and then realize, and just sits there with his mouth wide open trying to figure out what to do instead of mouthing.
If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who’s always ready for a good time (and is the most handsome boy), Lykos is your guy. He is loving, playful, enthusiastic, goofy, adorable, and incredibly silly.
His ideal home would be an active home willing to put in some time and patience for training. He would do well with group training and socialization. Due to his mounting, not recommended for a house with small children. Lykos has not interacted with cats or other domesticated animals – he has not shown aggression towards them, but a lot of playful interest in the neighborhood cats. This handsome boy is now patiently awaiting his forever home.
